ABOUT THIS SITE
On Friday, May 1st 2020, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Bill Blair, announced an immediate ban of "military-grade assault weapons." The amendments to Canada's Firearms Act specifically listed 1,500 firearms that can no longer be sold, transported or used in Canada. Despite what the government has stated, this legislation unfairly targets law-abiding gun owners who compete in sport shooting competitions as well as hunters.
Using the raw emotion following the massacre in Nova Scotia this past April, this legislation of 69 pages was pushed through in the most dubious of ways by an order in council. There was no debate and there was no vote.
An Angus Reid Institute survey found that 4 out of 5 Canadians support the ban. The same survey also found that 73% of Canadians have never owned a gun, and arguably, never participated in the firearm related activities of hunting or sport shooting.
If someone has never been properly exposed to firearms and the laws regulating them, how can they have an accurately informed opinion?
Over the years it has became increasingly clear that our media is so saturated with news from the United States and their lack of firearm education and unified regulations, the average Canadian is unable to differentiate between American and Canadian gun owners.
The purpose of this site is to advocate for law abiding gun owners in Canada. We are not criminals. We are not the ones the government should be targeting. We are the ones that enjoy practising the skills required to participate in hunting and sport shooting and our side of the debate deserves to be heard.
